A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day, they decided to sneak away for a romantic weekend getaway at a secluded cabin in the woods. As they were enjoying their time together, they heard a noise outside the cabin. Panicked, the man looked out the window and saw his wife approaching.
Frantically, he searched for a place to hide his secretary. Spotting a closet nearby, he shoved her inside and quickly closed the door, just as his wife entered the cabin.
Suspicious, his wife asked, “What’s going on here? Why did you rush off like that?”
Thinking on his feet, the man replied, “Oh, darling, I was just feeling so overwhelmed with work that I needed to come here to clear my head. I didn’t want to bother you with it.”
His wife seemed to buy the excuse, but then she noticed something odd about the closet. “Why is the closet door closed?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Panic surged through the man as he struggled to come up with an explanation. Just then, his secretary, who couldn’t bear to stay silent any longer, burst out of the closet and exclaimed, “I can’t take this anymore! I’m tired of sneaking around and being hidden away like some dirty little secret!”
The man’s wife stood there in shock, while the secretary stormed out of the cabin, leaving behind a bewildered husband and a marriage hanging by a thread.
From that day on, the man learned that trying to juggle a double life is never a good idea and that honesty is truly the best policy in any relationship.
